Through our official partnership with Columbia University, AALSTEM solicits talented minority High School students to join this program. Taught at Columbia University, the program is designed to expose students to the rigorous work associated with STEM undergraduate degrees. In addition, AALSTEM provides professional mentorship and career advice.
In an effort to spark interest in the field of STEM, members of AALSTEM routinely participate in Career Day at various middle and High Schools throughout New York City.
In collaboration with various industries and sister organizations, AALSTEM successfully referred talented college students to assume internship roles. In addition, AALSTEM members provided career advice to help students transition to working in a professional environment.
In collaboration with NYC office of appointments and NYC School Construction Authority, AALSTEM hosts forums to serve as a conduit to connect Latino professionals with full time job opportunities within various NYC agencies.
To raise awareness and help promote STEM careers among our next generation, AALSTEM hosts an annual Technology Fair in Northern Manhattan. The event features interactive exhibitions by professionals in various leading industries and educational firms and is attended by hundreds of students in our community.
